Today, the company announced Trending Storylines, a new feature which will help users discover news and ideas. In a blog post, the Vice President of LinkedIn, Tomer Cohen, describes the new feature as interest-based feeds. In addition to their main LinkedIn Feed, users will now have access to the new Trending Storylines feed. There, users will be able to access and discuss stories that are relevant to their industry. Trending Storylines will start rolling out in the U.S. today, and will expand to other countries soon.
How Trending Storylines work
The Trending Storylines feature brings a whole new experience to LinkedIn. Users will be able to find developing stories, get diverse perspectives on them, and join the conversation. In a press release, the LinkedIn Corporate Communications Team, explains how the new feature works. Here is a list of things users will be able to do thanks to Trending Storylines:
“See what stories are developing: Each story is based on what’s trending, and personalized to you based on what we know about you, such as the industry you’re in. Go deep to learn more: You can discover, learn and explore more about the story being discussed within each storyline. Get diverse perspectives on every story: Each story includes multiple perspectives, ranging from news publishers and influencers, to people in your network, so that you can easily weigh up diverse opinions. For example, if you work in healthcare, you may see a perspective shared by a renowned healthcare expert, an article published by a top medical magazine, and a post shared by someone you follow or are connected to. Use hashtags to easily join the conversation: Each story will have a unique hashtag associated with it, making it easy for you to join the conversation and add your own take on the issue. As the conversations evolve, we will continue to ensure you’re seeing the latest perspectives.”
Users can find Trending Storylines on their mobile home screen under the Trending tab. On the desktop version of LinkedIn, users can find it at the top right of their homepage. To learn more about Trending Storylines, check LinkedIn’s video:
