1 Street Fighter IV2 Luxor 23 Madballs in Babo: Invasion4 Poker Smash
While Street Fighter is the only major title on that list, the new XBLA titles will still be appreciated by current owners. It has the potential to bring new light to them, opening up the multiplayer scene once more.
Street Fighter IV
For those who didn’t get the chance to play the first time around, Street Fighter IV is a very solid addition to the series. It received a Metacritic score of 93 and released to universal acclaim. It’s an important release for Xbox One users, with the latest Street Fighter V title only available on PC and PS4. Thankfully, IV is actually a better game, featuring more characters and a six button combat system instead of the new analog stick one, which is shaky at best. It’s a solid purchase for any fighting game fan. Its current purchase price is $19.99 on the Xbox marketplace.
Luxor 2
Luxor 2 covers an entirely different genre. The game comes out of the Xbox Live Arcade, and pits a wing scarab against the Egyptian god of chaos. Users have to destroy colored balls by matching three or more, collecting powerups along the way.
The title received mixed reviews from critics and users. While quite unoriginal, the game is highly addictive and only $9.99.
Madballs in Babo: Invasion
Madballs also sits in the $9.99 price range. It’s an intense, arena based 3D shooter, offering up to 4 players in online co-op and 16 in other multiplayer matches. However, it’s worth noting that your experience may be limited by the number of players online. Its popularity was always shaky, leading to matches that weren’t full. With hope, this new functionality will reinvigorate the multiplayer scene.
Poker Smash
Poker Smash is perhaps the best of the three arcade titles. It brings a new take on the world of poker via a fast-paced puzzle game. Players chain cards together in classic poker hands to receive points and compete on the leaderboard or via multiplayer.
The game features seven different game modes, alongside 55 puzzle levels, split screen, and tournaments. It even has a recording suite built in to share highlights with friends and family. In all, it’s not a bad offering from Microsoft, despite the still-high demand for titles like Skyrim, Modern Warfare 2, and the Assassin’s Creed games. No doubt such titles will take some time to port over, and any new additions are appreciated in the meantime.
