The new name for the feature arrived in the latest update for the application. Through a new update, Snip & Sketch is now up to version 10.1807.2286.0. Microsoft has also made some feature changes to the app ahead of its full launch in October. Microsoft first announced Screen Sketch with Windows 10 Insider Preview build 17704 back in June. The app is meant to replace the Snipping Tool as the primary screen capturing option for Windows 10 users, offering all the currently available Snipping Tool functionalities, along with additional improvements. If you are unfamiliar with Screen Sketch, it was originally created as an integration for Windows Ink. Microsoft later chose to use the app to replace the current Windows 10 Snipping Tool. That service has been part of the Windows fabric since way back in Windows 7 and was in need of a refresh Snip & Search will be more powerful than its predecessor. For example, it will have a locked in keyboard shortcut (Win+Shift+S) for easy access. Additional features include creating screenshots in random shapes and an in-built image editor.

Updates

Through the latest update, Snip & Search now has fresh screen capture options menu in the “New” tab. Users can choose to do an instant snip to delay if for three or 10 seconds. Last month, Microsoft improved screenshot quality on the app. Windows Insiders had complained the capture quality was not good. Through early previews of the app, the screenshots came out blurry… hardly a good look for a service designed to take screenshots. Earlier this year, the app dropped some clues about Microsoft’s plans with the Windows 10 Control Center. An earlier preview build of the app showed a gear icon that leads to the Control Center.
