While tech events are trivial in the face of a public health crisis, the economy is also under attack from COVID-19. Microsoft is now moving to a virtual approach for events and says DirectX Developer Day will be streamed on Mixer. The event will get underway on March 19, 2020. Major events like Build 2020 or MWC 2020 cannot go ahead virtually simply because of their size, but smaller events can. Microsoft says DirectX Developer Day will detail the company’s push to improving gaming graphics. Furthermore, the company will reveal new features. What those features are remains to be seen as Redmond did not offer any specific details. “The Microsoft DirectX team, along with partners from AMD and NVIDIA, will be streaming a series of talks covering how we’re pushing gaming graphics into the future, introducing exciting new features, showing never-before-seen demos, and doing a deep dive into both PIX and our shader compiler.” Microsoft also invited people to join them for Game Stack Live today.
Virtual Events
Yesterday, Microsoft announced it will host an event on March 30, which will also be virtual. Microsoft 365 will probably be the focus of the live event. It could include launch information regarding the consumer version of the subscription service. Known as Microsoft 365 Life, the new package is expected to launch in spring so a full unveiling later this month makes sense.
