Microsoft’s award says what it does on the tin. The Surface Book was the best laptop PC over the last year, a solid achievement. Especially when we consider some of the competition. Nominees for the award included Dell XPS 12, Lenovo Yoga 900S, HP Spectre x360, Acer Aspire Switch 12 S, and the Apple MacBook. The T3 Awards are among the biggest tech shows. Indeed, the event is known as “the Oscars of Tech” and has been running for ten years. Each year, awards are handed out to gadgets and brands that have the best and most innovative products.

Speaking about Microsoft’s excellent 2-in-1 hybrid, the judges said the following: “A lot of eyebrows were raised, and a lot of jaws hit the floor when Microsoft launched its first own-brand laptop, and the Surface Book has impressed us enough since then to earn the Laptop of the Year Award. You can tell that this is Microsoft’s attempt to show its hardware partners how it should be done in the Windows 10 era – that clever hinge, that detachable screen… power and portability together in one complete computer. Yes, there were issues with it, but it was a brave step forward by the Redmond company, and we’re already excited about Surface Book 2.”
Back in June, Microsoft launched a video that highlighted the innovations and design aspects of the device. The Surface Book boasts a six-gen Intel Skylake Core processor up to Core i7. Other specs include a 13-inch detachable touchscreen, 16GB of RAM, 12 hours of battery, and up to a 1TB drive. Microsoft did something similar back in March with an extensive blog post that discussed the design and build of the Surface Book, so this is like the condensed more entertaining version.
