Soon, all Windows Insiders with the Your Phone app will be able to sync notifications from their Android phone to their PC. Users will be able to dismiss notifications on their desktop to have them disappear from their mobile, with notification replies coming in the future. Meanwhile, screen mirroring features are coming to the Galaxy S10, S10+, and S10e, as well as the Note 8 and 9. OnePlus 6 and 6t users will also get access to the feature for enhanced productivity.

A Slow Evolution

Your Phone was announced in May 2018 and made its way to devices in August. However, the features it delivered were a far cry from those it showcased. The company decided to forgo iPhone due to limited functionality and launched only basic Android photo syncing in August. A year later, Microsoft is getting much closer to its vision. A number of bug fixes have removed the technical hitches for many were having, and all users can sync and reply to text messages flawlessly. Still, phone mirroring and notification syncing are the additions many are waiting for. They form a much larger bridge between the two platforms and make Your Phone much more of a daily driver. Unfortunately, Microsoft is yet to reveal when the additions will come to regular users. The company could roll out the feature in the coming weeks, or it could be tied to a feature or Android update. In the meantime, fans can follow the company’s new Android blog, which will explain the techniques and philosophy behind its Android apps.
